Activities

The observing areas include power for telescopes and equipment, and is organized so that you may drive on-off from the nearby light-shielded parking area at night without impacting the observers on the fields. Please read the Darkout rules!

We had record attendance this year (177), due to the annular eclipse on Saturday October 14, and being very close to the centerline (almost 5 minutes annularity!)

Our ESP 2023 speakers were  Dan Davis  (co-author “Turn Left at Orion“) speaking on “A Geologist-Stargazer’s View of Tectonics Around the Solar System”,
Randy Light (astrophotographer, College Station) speaking on “How to Photograph an Annular(Ring of Fire) Eclipse”,
and  Stephen C. Odewahn  (McDonald Observatory) speaking on “Automated Galaxy Classification: Galaxies Near and Far”

Doorprizes were awarded on Saturday afternoon (must be present to win). Please thank these generous ESP 2023 vendors.
If you are a vendor, find out about donating doorprizes to ESP!

Vendors are welcome to set up adjacent to the observing field and are allowed one sign/banner for advertising.

Enjoy this year’s telescope and binocular observing programs in the ESP Observing Programs and Archive!
